Job Summary:

Join the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA), Division of Business and Finance (DBF) as an Accounting Specialist II and play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our financial operations. In this dynamic position, you'll independently manage complex fiscal data across multiple automated systems, including accounting, procurement, and HRIS. You'll serve as a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance to divisions and agencies on accounting principles and procedures, ensuring compliance with the State of Arizona Accounting Manual (SAAM). Your problem-solving skills will be essential as you resolve complex financial issues, analyze vendor/customer concerns, and reconcile critical reports. You'll ensure accurate document authorization, coding and pricing. Job Duties:
  • Review and analyze documentation for accuracy, compliance to statutes, and policies
  • Ensure that documents are properly authorized, coded correctly and pricing is in accordance with purchase orders/contracts
  • Prepare and enter transactions information into various financial systems
  • Review/reconcile accounts and transactions from accounting systems for error, make any necessary revisions
  • Resolve issues/problems, answer questions, research/analyze data for divisions/agencies
  • Prepare deposits in accordance with policies and procedures relating to the handling of cash and reconcile to accounting system
  • Reconciliation of invoice agings, statements and general ledger reports
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • State of Arizona Accounting Manual
  • Automated accounting systems
  • ADOA rules and regulations

  • Experience in reconciling agings and general ledger (preferred)
  • College-level accounting and bookkeeping classes (preferred)
