The duration of this position is for the life of the grant, which is through June 30, 2026. Under the direction of the Grant Manager performs quality assurance grant work of considerable difficulty in the following areas:
Monitors awarded grants to ensure compliance with Federal and other programmatic and financial requirements - Prepares ongoing reports of activities and status of grant financials - Reviews grant invoices for accuracy and compliance - Notifies agency administration and staff regarding the availability grant payment submissions status- Monitors fiscal compliance issues pertaining to grant funding and payments
The Accounting Specialist III also collaborates with grant coordinator staff for invoice review/processing/preparation and serves as the quality assurance officer of responsibility for grant invoices submitted through web-based systems or other methods as required - Maintains centralized grant accounting files in compliance with financial records retention requirements - Prepares ongoing grant fiscal activity/payment status reports, ad hoc and period grant fiscal reports - Performs duties appropriate to the assignment and provides ongoing administrative support for statewide grant funds.
• Performs advanced, senior level accounting-related tasks within an agency’s fiscal management division. May review, verify or inspect the work of lower level staff. Applies accounting principles and practices used within government institutions. Gather, compile and reconcile fiscal data. May write detailed reports summarizing financial transactions. Examines and verifies fiscal transactions such as billing invoices, accounts receivable/ accounts payable, payroll. Record keeping, data analysis, verifies accuracy, timeliness. Ledger entries
• Monitors awarded grants to ensure compliance with Federal financial requirements. Prepares a variety of ongoing reports of fiscal activities and status of grant spending. Collaborate with grant manager on other grant financial submission requirements. Maintains updates forms and files as needed. Provide support for documentation, forms and report completion for the Arizona Board of Nursing. Composes correspondence on a wide variety of subjects
• Prepares for and coordinates meetings and events. Drafts agendas and minutes for meetings. Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information pertinent to the grant functions
• Communicate with grant manager, consultants, staff, vendors, grant partners and hospitals/clinics throughout the project life cycle. May represent AZBN staff at recipient site visits
• Other duties as assigned as related to the position
Knowledge:

Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
Preferred:
• Two years experience in grants -One year experience in fiscal review
• Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)
•Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment
