Arizona Health Start Home Visiting Program Intern

POSTING DETAILS:
 
- The Arizona Health Start Home Visiting Program intern will join our team for 20 or more weeks, working 19 hours each week. The internship is anticipated through at least March 31, 2025, with the availability to continue through May 31, 2025. The schedule will be determined with the selected candidate based on their availability and school schedule. Priority will be given to an individual who can be in the office on Mondays from 8 AM - 12 PM.
- Start date - As soon as you’re ready we can accommodate your class schedule so that you may work during business hours.
-You will need to upload a copy of your resume, transcripts, and cover letter explaining how your skills are a good fit for this position, must have a current GPA standing of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Compensation based on education and related experience. Compensation ranges from $15.40 per hour to $24.20 per hour.

-We are seeking a talented and engaged intern who is interested in improving maternal and child health outcomes through the administration of the Health Start Program. The Health Start Program is administered through the Arizona Department of Health Services and contracts with local implementing agencies throughout the state to utilize Community Health Workers to provide education, support, resources, and advocacy services to pregnant and postpartum people and their families in targeted communities to reduce adverse health outcomes and improve access to early interventions. Families receive home visits through the enrolled child's second birthday. 
 
- This internship will provide skills development in public administration, program development, and program implementation. This includes skill development in contract management; budget development and management; understanding, analyzing, and utilizing data to inform decisions; implementing continuous quality improvement project; project management skills; report writing; public speaking and presentation; meeting management an facilitation; and project proposal design. Interns will have assigned contracts, tasks, and projects associated with skills development activities. 
 
- Interns are also encouraged to express unique ideas for at least one project that aligns with the program goals and their individual learning goals upon gaining adequate knowledge about the program and project possibilities. 
 
-You will be coached and mentored by the Health Start Manager, and/or others on the team by collaborating with them on group projects.

● Supportive coach and mentors with a combined experience of 30 years in Public Health (Health Start Manager, Office of Children's Health)

SELECTIVE PREFERENCES:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in public health, public administration, child and family development, social work, or a related field, with a preference for an anticipated graduation date by May 31, 2025; 
  • Individuals with lived experience that provides a unique perspective to maternal and child health and/or home visiting. 

 

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
