The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking for a Business Analyst Senior for our agency’s IT department who directly reports to the Senior Program Manager in the PMO. This position works across departments and external entities to gather, analyze, organize, and document business and functional requirements for assigned projects. Conducts quality assurance checks, works with users to write test scripts, initiates test programs, works with vendors to design modification activities and any documentation of programs and changes. Includes working with cross-functional internal teams and project managers to manage timelines, risks, issues, and team activities. Carries out of the agency's key business processes specific to various applications while contributing to the calculated planning of information systems and upgrades. Also works with project managers to prepare and deliver informative, well-organized presentations and project status reviews to stakeholders including process owners and customers.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

- Gathers, analyzes, and documents user requirements/requests, enhancements and changes
- Interfaces with vendors to complete requirements
- Interfaces with stakeholders, cross-functional teams and end-users to organize all requirements and project data
- Manages, plans and implements various project activities under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Project Manager
- Adheres to repeatable project management standards and practices where possible, and may require defining new approaches while assisting in resolving conflicts specific to the focus area or across functional teams
- Coordinates activities between team and vendors
- Reviews vendor program documentation and Instructions for the operating systems
- Assists with the creation and coordination of training materials, end-user training, implementations, and deployments
- Manages deadlines and completes work to contribute to overall project timelines
- Presents project status reports to executive leadership and other stakeholders
- Coordinates project intake processes and completes all project-related documentation specific to their role
- Confers with the supervisor and users to resolve questions about program input/output requirements, parameters, modifications and other relevant matters
- Ensures corrective action is taken to meet agreed project timelines and customer requirements
- Works cross-functionally to solve problems, implement project changes and analyze potential project risks
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Selective Preference(s):

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business Administration plus five (5) or more years combination of project management and business analyst
- Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Certification in Project Manager Institute (PMI) and/or Project Manager Professional (PMP)

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
