The Business Intelligence Analyst will be part of the AZDEQ Business Intelligence Team directly supporting all Divisions of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality. The successful candidate should be highly skilled in all aspects of business intelligence, including data mining, data analysis, and data visualization. The candidate should be proficient in developing data analysis tools and dashboards using the business intelligence application Tableau. The Analyst will be required to work with multiple teams to complete projects related to the creation and maintenance of operational Reporting, Data visualization, and Data Management.
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining software packages to determine compliance with applicable rules of the State, individuals’ status, and responding to requests for data from within ADEQ and partnership agencies. This position coordinates efforts in allowing external access to data by the public at large, including public requests for data from ADEQ’s Records Office, and delegated authorities. As a business intelligence and technical expert for the Business Intelligence Team, this position also keeps abreast of emerging techniques and methods to better leverage technology within the team and act as a technical lead for all data and analytics projects.
This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

• Develop and maintain Tableau data sources, visualizations, and dashboards using Tableau Desktop
• Utilize tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets to be used for diagnosis and prediction
• Perform independent validation of data sets against systems of record to ensure reporting accuracy
• Use standard templates to accurately and concisely document requirements, specifications, and standard procedures for using data
• Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, and conformity to standards
• Create and maintain data transformation processes using multiple applications (Tableau, SSMS, Alteryx, etc.)
• Experience with programming languages like SQL, Oracle, R, and Python
• Experience gathering and documenting business requirements
• Strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organize and analyze data
• Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Economics, or related technical field of study
• 3-7 years of data analysis and data visualization experience with software like Tableau, Qlik, Power BI
