CARPENTER - SKILLBRIDGE

*Must be able to complete a minimum of 8 weeks and up to a maximum of 6 months SkillBridge internship*

*Must be separating from the Military*

*Has served at least 180 days on active duty*

This Internship can be up to 6 months, depending on Service Member's availability

Job Summary:

Performs skilled carpentry duties in the installation, remodeling, maintenance, restoration, inspection, and/or repair of exhibits and state facilities.

Responsible for accomplishing all tasks in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to and assuring all safety rules are followed and all work complies with building codes.

Job Duties:

• May perform minor locksmithing duties

• Builds cabinets, drawers, and special cabinetry

• Repair tables, shelves, benches, desks and chairs

• Builds, restores, and maintains wooden floors, doors, partitions, roofs, windows and stairways

• Operates various types of power and hand saws, planers, lathes, joiners, shapers, drills and sanders

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:

• Methods and practices involved in remodeling and construction; blueprints, sketches, and structural components of buildings and related utility systems

• National and local building codes; common and specialized tools, equipment, and materials related to the trade

• Common safety practices

Skills:

• Ordering and estimating materials and cost

• Interpersonal relationships

• Following directions and providing input

Abilities:

• Reading and understanding blueprints, sketches, and schematics relating to buildings and utilities

• Applying and understanding National and local building codes and common safety practices; the trade of a carpenter

• Using common and specialized tools, equipment, and materials

• Oral and written communications

Selective Preference(s):

• Demonstrated ability to use powered and non-powered tools and equipment

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• A valid Arizona Driver's license

• This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.
