The Office of the General Counsel’s mission is to provide professional, high-quality legal representation to the Corporation Commission in the performance of its powers, responsibilities, and duties. The matters handled include Commission dockets, open meetings, federal regulatory dockets, litigation, administrative and special projects.
Draft, proofread, edit, and file a variety of legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests, and correspondence. Manage and coordinate litigation deadlines, meetings, and attorney calendars. Maintain and manage attorney case lists. Fact-check and proofread legal documents for accuracy, grammar, and formatting. Communicate professionally with the public, media, and government entities on behalf of attorneys. Assist with special projects and assignments as directed by the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel. Provide backup support for division paralegals and legal assistants, ensuring seamless office operations.
Preference will be given to applicants with experience in formal legal secretary or related education and several years prior work experience simultaneously supporting 2 or more attorneys.

Section 40-101 prohibits Commission employees from having certain financial interests in entities that the Commission regulates. Applicants shall be required to disclose any interests they may have in the regulated entities during the application process, and as a condition of employment, to divest themselves of any prohibited interests.

This position qualifies for participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) defined benefit pension.
