• This position will support students by combining and coordinating the efforts of many individuals, assuring that work-based learning experiences effectively and efficiently help students develop knowledge, skills, attitudes, and work habits to move successfully into the world of work.
• Frequent in-state travel is required for this position.
The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.
• Support Work-based Learning by providing instruction and course/program development
• Support objectives and responsibilities of participants
• Work with ADE CTE personnel in data collection, evaluation, and continued improvement of the Work-based Learning (WBL) Program
• Support the integration of the Arizona Department of Education Career Literacy skills in all WBL instruction, activities, and experiences
• Collect and submit participant data or reports on scheduled deadlines
• Attend conferences and workshops
• Support employers in creating business profiles that include opportunities for WBL
• Support the relationships with businesses, local workforce agencies, and higher education partners to provide WBL experiences
• Participate in professional development opportunities for teachers to provide employability skills as identified by the Arizona Department of Education Career and Technical Education Unit (ADE CTE)
• Support school districts in the introduction of WBL opportunities for middle school students
• Present WBL information to educational staff to keep them informed and promote participation
• Support work-based learning opportunities for students in rural communities
• Effectively use community resources
• Support and maintain a presence among area employers to promote the value of providing work-based learning experiences for all students
• Work closely with CTE Directors, counselors, CTE instructors, other CTE-related specialists at the local education agency level.
• Support teachers and staff in planning, development, and evaluation to ensure the fidelity of the different experiences
• Support businesses to create a focused training agreement for students including skills students will learn and daily job duties
• Support experiences to help students meet Education Career Action Plan (ECAP) requirements
• Connect students to career opportunities and coordinate educational experiences for students on and off campus
• When necessary, support students in career research, exploration, and education options
• Support and partner with school counselors, career advisors, and career development as students complete the four-year education and career action plan elements using a state/district-approved platform
• Facilitate industry experience and training for teachers when necessary
Knowledge in:
• Principles and practices of public-school organization and administration
• Familiar with processes, policies, and procedures related to the organization and management of ADE/ CTE
• Development and application of program standards, instructional delivery methods, classroom/lab institutional resources, and assessment
• Specialized areas of networking, group dynamics, and collaboration in cross-functional teams
• Technology is used to organize and display data for program, instruction, and assessment decision-making
• Work-force development structure, organization and practices
• Understanding of career training programs and concepts
• Chamber of Commerce and local work-force development board operations and responsibilities
• In-depth understanding of business operations and recruitment
• Applicants must have experience convening and facilitating work groups, writing, editing, and conducting research and experience preparing and presenting information in multiple formats to multiple audiences.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience to substitute for the degree is required.
