DPS SERVICE EMPLOYEE WIRELESS SYSTEMS APPRENTICE

SALARY: $34,129.05 - $54,573.58 Annually

Job Summary:

The DPS Service Employee Wireless Systems Bureau (WSB) Apprenticeship is a limited-term position designed to allow Department of Public Safety (DPS) Service Employees to explore potential roles within the Wireless Systems Bureau, with the potential to advance to positions such as Telecommunications Technician or Technician Trainee.  We invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity to join a team, receive training, and have opportunities for promotion and advancement.

This classification is designated as uncovered. Incumbent serves at the pleasure of the Director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety.  During the apprenticeship, DPS Service Employees will rotate through various departments within the WSB in the areas described below.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Applicants must complete an examination process. A polygraph and background investigation are required for successful applicants. DPS supports a drug-free work environment through pre-employment drug testing.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements. All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period.  The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income and retirement.  You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
