Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a qualified Human Resources (HR) professional to assume the role of Human Resources Analyst Senior. This position is also responsible for advising staff and agency leadership on the application of federal laws governing military leave, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Fair Labor standards Act (FSLA). Job Duties:

- Provides guidance and recommendations to management/employees on all aspects of employee related issues
- Meets with management on extremely confidential employee matters dealing with employee discipline, equal opportunity matters, guidance on Administrative and Criminal investigations in relation to HR matters
- Provides guidance on departmental policies and procedures
- Conducts EEO fact finding investigations and prepares a comprehensive report with recommendations for management review and appropriate action
- Reviews, revises and/or composes professional correspondence
- Conducts detailed research and review of policies, statutes, and investigations to ensure accurate information is contained within finalized letters, reports and correspondence
- Monitors time frames to ensure policy adherence, maintains complex reports, and ensures documents are placed into the database
- Develops curriculum and present training as needed and/or required regarding Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), ADA, FMLA, military leave, grievances, discipline, and Departmental policies, etc.
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Laws, rules, regulations and procedures pertaining to personnel administration, ADOA Personnel Rules, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, EEO, Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended, Arizona state government operation and structure/functions within ADCRR
- Personal computers and software, business English and proper grammar
- Methods of effective management, counseling and mediation practices, and problem solving methods

Skill in:
- Verbal and written communication, time management, organizational, interpersonal relations, typing, problem solving, and decision making, management, leadership, administrative, team building, and research

Ability to:
- Effective communication of thoughts and ideas
- Effective interpretation of policy and procedures
- Analyze problems/complaints and determine acceptable solutions
- Maintain a professional demeanor, remain objective, periodically travel to the institutions, indirectly oversee projects and/or programs, provide guidance to a diverse group of individuals, maintain confidentiality

Selective Preference(s):

Five (5) year experience working with ADCRR policies and procedures
- Prefer practical work experience with progressively challenging administrative assignments
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or closely related field and two years as an HR Analyst Intermediate or equivalent experience

Pre-Employment Requirements:

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
