POSTING DETAILS:
 
- The Environmental Health intern will join our team for 15-20 weeks, working 15-20 hours each week.
- Start date - As soon as you’re ready we can accommodate your class schedule so that you may work during business hours.
-You will need to upload a copy of your resume, transcripts and cover letter explaining how your skills are a good fit for this position, and must have a current GPA standing of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Compensation based on education and experience.

 

JOB SUMMARY:
-We are seeking a talented and engaged intern who is working toward a degree and wants to develop beyond the classroom!
-You would be a great fit if you have excelled in and/or enjoy courses such as Environmental and Occupational Health, Health Education, Epidemiology, Health Behavior, or Health Promotion.
-In this role, you will gain experience working in the Office of Environmental Epidemiology at ADHS. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in program development and implementation. You will collaborate with the ABLES team to develop educational materials and resources, and support outreach efforts to raise awareness. You will also have the opportunity to work with other offices at ADHS to coordinate data collection, analysis, and visualization. 
-You will be coached and mentored by the Environmental Toxicology Program Manager along with the Environmental Health Epidemiologist and others in the Office of Environmental Epidemiology by collaborating with them on projects. 
 
YOU WILL BRING THE FOLLOWING TO THE INTERNSHIP: 
● Strong written and verbal communication skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Knowledge of the design and accessibility of documents and the different types of products/materials used to communicate public health information.
● Experience or interest in learning programs like MEDSIS, Canva, and Adobe Illustrator. 
● Knowledge of Google Workspace, including Google Sites, Forms, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive and/or the ability to quickly learn new technology platforms.
● Time management, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
● Knowledge of health communication strategies, health behavior, and health education theories. 
● Understanding of the social determinants of health.
● Dedication to advancing health equity.
● Strong skills in planning, researching, and analyzing.
YOU WILL GAIN THE FOLLOWING FROM THIS INTERNSHIP:
● Experience developing and publishing training and health education materials such as flyers and brochures.
● Skills for effective communication with a diverse team of public health professionals and the general public.
● Developing programming based on the request of the community and program data.

● Skills to best communicate health information with various audiences. 
● Knowledge of the design and accessibility of documents and different types of products/materials used to communicate public health information. 
● Experience in health promotion and education, or health equity.
