Facilities Maintenance Technician (Generalist)

Salary: $51,255.78 - $67,315.66 Annually

Job Summary:

This recruitment will be used to establish an 18-month eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies. The application period may close without notice.

Under general direction, performs skilled work of average to considerable difficulty in the performance of building maintenance including the fields of electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); carpentry; plumbing, etc; and performs related duties as assigned. This is a competitive classification

Job Duties:

Requires three (3) years as a Facilities Maintenance Worker; OR three (3) years as a building maintenance technician or construction worker, with experience performing work in at least three of the following areas: basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and/or HVAC work. Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's license at the time of employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to work in various adverse conditions such as tight or enclosed spaces, heights, and temperature extremes, indoors or outdoors to complete work assignments.
Work alternate schedule that will include: holidays, weekends, and evenings on regular scheduled assigned times.
Bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time.
Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time.
Work in small, cramped areas.
Move objects weighing over fifty (50) pounds long distances (more than 20 feet).
Mix or work with cleaning fluids, chemicals, paints, cleaning agents, or similar solutions using appropriate protective equipment.
The primary duties of this class are performed in a public building environment which may include working on rooftops and in adverse weather conditions. Will need to endure prolonged exposure to arid desert conditions i.e., prolonged sun and heat exposure during summer months.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to respond to 24-hour emergency calls for assigned work areas to perform emergency building or equipment repairs during off-duty hours.
May be required to travel, including overnight stays, to various parts of the State in the performance of duties.
