This position supports ADOT's online geographical information system (GIS) for data visualization by planning and developing high quality custom maps using GIS. Carry out geospatial maintenance, analysis, reporting, mapping, and publications using agency data. Assist with the maintenance of documentation related to ADOT GIS workflows including metadata, conducting research to obtain existing GIS databases, and other related projects. Coordinate work activities with Council of Governments (COG's), and Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO's)related to Federal functional classification changes. Collaborate with peers, contractors, and vendors to provide prompt feedback to leadership. Perform duties as a project manager on a variety of technical projects. Prepare and provide technical documentation to management. The position will be a part of the Data and Information Group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Development and maintenance of the Arizona Transportation Information (Linear Referencing) System (ATIS) and the Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI) datasets using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). A key aspect of the position will be to support the annual submittal of the Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS) via engineering plan interpretation and roadway characteristics editing
• Plans, develops, and creates high quality custom maps using GIS . Carry out geospatial maintenance, analysis, reporting, mapping, and publications using agency data
• Conduct research to obtain existing GIS databases. Coordinate work activities with Council of Governments (COG's), and Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO's) related to Federal functional classification changes. Collaborate with customers to understand business needs and provide prompt feedback
• Perform duties as a project manager on a variety of technical projects. Prepare technical documentation to management
• Represent ADOT on transportation data related conferences, meetings and task forces.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
Accredited education/training, or specific experience in Linear Referencing Systems, Urban/Regional Planning, Geographic Information systems (GIS), Transportation Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Five (5) years of work experience in programming, database management, geospatial analysis and GIS (including ESRI software applications). Prefer a GIS Professional certification or be able to obtain within 12 months of hiring.
This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License.
