Job Summary:

This position serves as the Human Resources (HR) Support Supervisor and HR Liaison for the South Region. The primary responsibilities include managing the day-to-day HR Operations, Recruitment, and Class and Compensation actions, etc. for over 600 employees/positions. This position supervises the work of an HR Analyst.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:
  • Processes, completes and submits all personnel actions for all positions and/or salary action requests for new hires, promotions, resignations, retirements, terminations, and transfers. Maintains and tracks promotions. Answers questions about personnel rules and regulations while providing guidance and administrative expertise to agency staff. Coordinates with Central Office HR personnel while following established guidelines.
  • Initiates and creates requisitions for recruitment and hiring. Contacts applicants and schedules interviews. Ensures and provides hiring managers with approved interview questions. Conducts Central Registry and public access checks. Ensures completion of reference checks and employee file reviews. Submits new hire paperwork and works with employees to complete new hire benefit enrollments.
  • Updates and submits reports on vacancies, hires, turnover and position control. Updates region organizational charts. Completes/updates position description actions for processing. Works inter-regionally with other liaisons to ensure employee actions are prompt and correct.
  • Responds to field and management needs. Assists with questions or requests regarding Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Donated Annual Leave, Unusual Incident Reports, Auto Loss Reports and Workman's Compensation. Maintains/logs fingerprint clearances, and employee ID cards.
  • Participates in personnel meetings and continued training. Accesses HRIS and Guardian data bases. Assists supervisors with questions and timely submission of Managing Accountability & Performance (MAP). Supports the DCS Management Systems by participating in team huddle meetings and tracks data and metrics for area of responsibility.

Selective Preference(s):

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or closely related field. Relevant HR Certification.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Must be able to secure and maintain clearance from DCS Central Registry.
