This position requires expert knowledge in the fields of Groundwater Modeling, Recharge and Hydrology in order to make technical evaluations and provide guidance to internal and external Recharge Program clients as it pertains to groundwater flow models and artificial groundwater recharge.
This position will primarily conduct detailed technical reviews of numerical groundwater flow models, provide groundwater modeling expertise at Program meetings and work with hydrologists and other professional groundwater modelers to develop new approaches to analyzing complex hydrologic conditions and unique groundwater recharge problems.
This position will be the groundwater flow model subject matter expert for Recharge Program decisions and the development, interpretation, and refinement of Program policies, often working closely with the Department’s legal counsel and management. This position will train and guide new or junior Program staff in the area of groundwater flow models. Additional job responsibilities include automating data processing and developing custom applications, documenting data analyses, interpretations, and calculations used to evaluate groundwater flow model analyses or predictive scenarios, and writing scientific reports for completed projects. Groundwater modeling analyses for special projects may also be required.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

This position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.
Knowledge in the fields of Groundwater Modeling, Recharge and Hydrology.
Candidate must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in hydrology, civil engineering, geology, watershed management, Physical science or a related field.
Hydrogeologist 3: Degree and five (5) years of hydrologic experience. Or a Master's degree and three (3) years of experience or Ph.D and one (1) year of experience.
Hydrogeologist Associate: Degree and eight (8) years of hydrologic experience. Or a Master's degree and six (6) years of experience or Ph.D and four (4) years of experience.
