The Library Technology Specialist is a pivotal team member within the Library Development branch of the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records. Reporting to the Digital Inclusion Library Consultant, this role supports the Connect Arizona website and Digital Navigators and is dedicated to fostering the adoption and understanding of current and emerging technologies across Arizona's libraries. By balancing research, outreach, and technical support, the specialist enables library staff to leverage new technologies to enhance service delivery and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- With the Digital Inclusion Library Consultant, supports the Connect Arizona Digital Navigator program by overseeing the daily operations, coordinating schedules, and training of the Navigators.
- Stay up to date on trends in library science, technology, artificial intelligence and digital literacy to ensure the Arizona State Library remains at the forefront of innovation.
- In collaboration with the Library Development Consultants, may help facilitate workshops, webinars, and presentations on emerging technologies for library staff and other relevant audiences.
- Provide hands-on technical support and consultation to library staff implementing new technologies in their services.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison between the Library Development branch, Agency IT staff, technology vendors, and library staff to address technical challenges and foster partnerships. Support the development of best practices, guidelines, and toolkits for the integration of emerging technologies in library operations.

- Coordinate daily Connect Arizona phone line schedule for digital navigators, and cover phone line hours as a navigator when available in the event of illness or absence. Oversee daily operations of Connect Arizona, including navigator support, answering/organizing emails, managing ticket logs and maintaining daily statistics. Oversee Connect Arizona’s cloud drive, documents and folder system. Maintain Connect Arizona work procedures and policies.
- Coordinate training and onboarding of new digital navigators and present continuing
education opportunities to navigators when available.
- Conduct ongoing research to identify and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to Arizona libraries, including artificial intelligence developments, digital tools, software, and hardware innovations. Support outreach programs to educate and engage library staff statewide on the latest technological advancements and their practical applications within library settings. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote the adoption of emerging technologies in libraries.
- Provide hands-on technical support and consultation to library staff implementing new technologies in their services. Support the development of best practices, guidelines, and toolkits for the integration of emerging technologies in library operations.

Knowledge of:
-Current and emerging technologies applicable to public libraries
-The mission, vision and values of LAPR
Skill in:
- Proficient with productivity software such as Office, and content management systems such as Wordpress.
- Excellent organizational skills, which include time and other resource management, are highly valued
- Skillful navigation of the web, databases, and other software are desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to:
- Research, understand, and communicate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.

- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience in a library or technology-focused role may be considered in lieu of a degree. - Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Minimum of two years of experience working in a library, technology support, or educational outreach role.

To help you build a financially secure future, the State makes monthly contributions to finance your retirement benefit. The State will contribute to the ASRS in an amount equal to your contribution. In other words, you and the State will each pay 50% of the total cost of the benefit. New State employees have a 27-week wait period for contributions to begin.
