- Reviews and analyzes current transportation needs and implements improved, efficient methods and routes of delivery while ensuring compliance with all State and Federal transportation laws
- Coordinates shipments of goods, maintains logs and records of shipments
- Dispatches multiple drivers and inmate work crews to delivery and pickup sites statewide using various communication systems and equipment
- Monitors availability of fleet vehicles and assigns fleet as appropriate
- Reviews routes to seek improvements in transit time and cost
- Tracks and traces all shipments to ensure orders are delivered on time and develops and implements metrics to determine carrier performance
- Fills in necessary in the absence of the Transportation Supervisor and coworkers to complete required tasks to maintain a high level of customer service
- Attends meetings and training
- Makes deliveries using fleet vehicles as necessary
- Drives on state business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge of:
- Computer applications with a high level of competency
- Transportation and distribution systems
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations/requirements
- Truckload operations including planning and coordinating loads for a fleet of vehicle ranging from pickups to tractor trailers
- Fleet assigned, including available trucks and equipment, load securements, weight restrictions, fluid capacity and maintenance
- Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)

- Promote safety practices for all transportation employees
- Investigate and resolve complaints and incidents in a timely manner and in compliance with ADCRR policies and procedures, personnel rules, and State and Federal laws
- Minimum three (3) years experience in transportation industry
- Dispatching and logistic planning duties
- College degree preferred in transportation, logistics or applicable field
- Warehouse or manufacturing environment experience with supervisory responsibility
- Solid background in truckload operations including planning and coordinating loads for a fleet of vehicles

Department of transportation (DOT) Medical Examiners Certificate is required at the time of employment

An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
