The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking an experienced and reliable individual to fill the Physical Plant Supervisor I position. This position is responsible for planning and directing inmate crews and is routinely involved in general facility maintenance and construction, apply now!
- Responsible for timely and effective planning and implementation of all programs, work projects and activities that include repairs, remodel, replacement, construction, cost estimates and scheduling of buildings, equipment and tools
- Prepares detailed accurate reports
- Responsible for building repairs, maintenance and construction, to include water supply, sewer waste water treatment plant and the electrical supply (if applicable to MRC)
- Travels to Pima Reentry Center (PRC) to assist with any assigned physical plant duties
- Operates heavy equipment
- Preparation, replacement and settlement of all warranty claims
- Coordinates all natural gas inspections
- Establishes and carries out preventative maintenance schedules on all equipment, mechanical equipment, and facility maintenance activities
- Reviews and interprets blueprints, schematics and sketches for private contractor bids on MRC construction jobs
- Oversees and consults new MRC construction with the Assistant Director, Deputy AD, or MRC Administrator
- Orders and tracks material
- Confers with engineering firms, contractors and State and Federal agencies
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge of:
- Safety practices and National and local building codes
- Preventative repair maintenance, equipment, new construction and remodeling methods/techniques
- Blueprint sketches and schematic and structural components of building construction and repair
- Service contracts
- Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft and Google suites)
Skill in:
- Coordinating, scheduling and assignment of work projects
- Developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs and related repair, remodeling and construction activities
- Effective communication and MRC written directives
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics
- Preparing reports, charts and conducting research
- Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships with all organizational levels and outside entities
- Quick and accurate decisions
- Problem solving techniques
- Computer account procedures
Ability to:
- Lift/Carry up to 50lbs
- Push/Pull up to 50lbs
- Walk/Run up to 0.25 miles
- Apply and inspect for compliance, National and local building codes
- Learn, interpret and apply ADCRR policies and procedures
- Prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines
- Work in an Ex-Offender or prison environment
- One (1) year of experience equivalent to a Physical Plant Supervisor I
- Any combination of training and experience that meet the knowledge, skills and abilities
- College/vocational computer training, workshops, seminars and in-service training

An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
