Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) State Procurement Office (SPO) is seeking enthusiastic interns ready to engage in a range of responsibilities that have a tangible impact on state agencies. This internship offers a hands-on experience in performing both formal and informal solicitations through various methods including Invitations to Bids, Requests for Proposals, and Requests for Quotes and Information. Interns will also be involved in conducting market basket commodity analysis, comparing costs of contract goods with those of retail suppliers and other entities, and reporting these findings to SPO management. Additionally, the role includes vital Contract Administration duties, focusing on insurance compliance, and analyzing vendor performance and compliance. This opportunity is ideal for students desiring to work in a fast-paced environment, where they can apply their knowledge to complex projects, learn quickly, and make sound ethical decisions on behalf of the state. The ADOA SPO internship is a unique chance to contribute significantly to the State of Arizona while gaining invaluable experience in state procurement processes.

Job Duties:
  • Performs research and analysis reviews of current statewide contracts, to include pricing and terms and conditions comparisons
  • Answer emails and phone calls
  • Assist Procurement Officers with contract administration duties; writing amendments, vendor communications, posting documents to ProcureAZ, analysis of requested price increases
  • Market Basket analysis regarding commodity pricing structures compared to retail costs, other cooperative organizations, and other states

  • In-progress bachelor's degree from an accredited university with an emphasis in public or business administration, supply chain management or a related business field
