Job Summary:

This position oversees the Preserving Children's Benefits Program, ensuring that the Department of Child Safety (DCS) complies with Arizona Revised Statutes §8-468(A). This position will manage a team of staff to identify eligible children for federal benefits (Social Security Administration or Veterans Administration), apply for benefits on their behalf, and monitor the progress of applications. This role is critical in properly managing benefits for children in care.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:
  • Provide oversight and leadership to a team of five staff, including one supervisor. Responsible for leading, instructing, and training staff on programmatic policies and procedures. Provide oversight, planning and execution of the DCS Preserving Children's Benefits Program.
  • Develops, implements and interprets policies, procedures, and training programs. Responsible for creating comprehensive guidelines to ensure efficient operations and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Interpret policies and laws to guide staff and stakeholders in their decision-making and actions.
  • Provide routine screening, consultation, and application assistance to field and legal partners involved in children's benefits programs. Responsible for providing operational and financial reporting to ensure program effectiveness and accountability.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and operation of the Preserving Children's Benefits Program. Coordinate efforts, share information, and address challenges related to the program.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Selective Preference(s):

Preferred 2 years experience with DCS and experience managing and overseeing programs/services.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

The ability to secure and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and the ability to secure and maintain clearance from the DCS Central Registry.

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
