The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM) Internship provides an introductory experience to one or more agency activities. Interns collaborate and conduct informational interviews with program staff, attend meetings and fieldwork sessions, and learn about products and deliverables relevant to the DFFM program areas. Interns may shadow all DFFM program areas of the internship program, or only those of interest. The incumbent will be hired for a specific technical, short-term project or purpose in the fields of forestry and fire management. Interns will produce a deliverable and presentation upon conclusion of their internship. This position is considered pre-entry-level and will receive dedicated mentoring throughout the internship.
It may be required to work outside of regular business hours, including weekends and holidays. Travel may be required to attend meetings, events, and project work.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Current enrollment in or recent graduation (within one year) from a four-year university with a focus in Forestry, Natural Resources, Fire Sciences, Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Science/Education, Sustainability, Ecology, Biology, Botany, or a related field.
A valid Arizona Driver's License.
Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
