Job Summary:

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office Child and Family Protection Division/ Child Support Services Section is seeking a Paralegal III to provide support for one or more Assistant Attorneys General by assessing and managing cases, evaluating and interpreting arrears calculations, assessing and preparing case files for court hearings and following through with post-hearing work.

Remote Options: This position may be eligible for Remote Work one day a week.

Job Duties:

The Paralegal documents case-related activity into the automated case management system (AZCares). The Paralegal prepares cases and pleadings, responds to issues, supports litigation and responds to public inquiries. The Paralegal complies with all laws, rules office policies and procedures applicable to the performance of the job. The Paralegal performs legal and case-related research, drafts motions and legal memoranda and performs additional tasks as assigned by supervising personnel. Duties involve reviewing, creating and processing materials and information that are confidential by Federal and State Laws.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge
• Knowledge and understanding of applicable statues, rules and regulations of state and
  federal courts.
• Knowledge of legal research techniques, terminology, forms, court procedures and
  applicable time frames in general.
• Extensive knowledge of court procedures and federal rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of the principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques common to a
  modern law office.

Skill
• Skills in written and oral communication
• Skills in dealing with the public
• Skills in coordinating legal requests, inquires and responses expeditiously.
• Skills in conducting and controlling interviews with parties involved in legal actions.

Ability
• Ability to appropriately incorporate all current state laws, rules and regulations and agency and in-office procedures as well
  as rules of court.
• Ability to analyze situations and use good judgment in making decisions.
• Ability to independently identify issues and prepare concise analysis of case files and legal documentation, incorporating all
  facts obtained in a thorough, orderly but concise manner.
• Ability to prepare legal pleadings, memoranda and correspondence.
• Ability to interact with and obtain information from litigants, court officials and
  representatives of state agencies.

Selective Preference(s):

The preferred candidate will have two years full-time employment as a paralegal; or a Baccalaureate degree in any area plus a paralegal certification through an institutionally accredited program and one year of full-time employment as a paralegal.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Travel may be required for this position. A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required, along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.
