The Arizona State Board for Charter Schools (ASBCS) is seeking an Education Program Specialist (EPS) to monitor compliance and academic programs of public charter schools, primarily in the Southern Arizona region. Responsibilities include reviews of charter compliance, processing contract amendments, building relationships, providing customer service to charter representatives, delivering training on compliance-related topics, visiting schools, and other duties related to the Board’s oversight of the schools it sponsors.
This position is a remote role working from a home office in Southern Arizona with bi-monthly travel to Phoenix for office initiatives.
This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

As an Education Program Specialist, you will:
• Review submitted documentation for the purpose of determining compliance with Board policy, administrative rules, and state and federal statutes.
• Review contract amendment submissions to determine adherence to Board requirements.
• Conduct visits to charter schools for the purpose of determining compliance.
• Prepare detailed reports for schools in the Board’s portfolio.
• Prepare materials for presentations to the Board and other stakeholders in areas of assignment.
• Develop and maintain relationships with charter operators in order to provide excellent customer service and support as needed.
• This position is a remote role working from a home office in southern Arizona.
• Travel throughout the state will be required, including occasional overnight travel.
Knowledge of:
• Public charter schools and how they are authorized.
• Statutes, rules, policy, best practices, and challenges that impact K-12 education.
• Arizona’s academic standards.
• Best practices associated with instruction, assessment, use of data to drive instructional decisions, and teacher evaluation.
Skill in:
• Analyzing and compiling data from various sources (database, internet, charter files, etc.), organizing facts, and drawing clear and logical conclusions.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving in a quick and efficient manner.
• Prioritization of multiple and overlapping deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks and projects.
• Clear, concise, and effective oral and written communication.
• Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal staff, school leaders, and members of the public.
• Review of academic programs to ensure that applicants and existing schools under the Board’s sponsorship are providing appropriate instruction.
Ability to:
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Thrive in a remote work environment.

• Provide high-quality customer service.
• Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with internal and external contacts.
• Be patient and compassionate when interacting with staff, the charter community, and the public.
• Speak professionally in the community regarding public schools.
• Learn to use the ASBCS SalesForce platform.
• Confidently use the Google suite of programs, including the Google Drive.
The preferred candidate:
• Is pursuing or has earned a two or four-year degree in an area related to the work of the agency (i.e. education, curriculum and instruction., business, nonprofit management, government, project management, public administration, etc).
• Lives in or near the Tucson metro area.
The ideal candidate:
• Has experience in a school or classroom setting.
• Holds a teaching certificate from Arizona or another state.
• Has experience in a compliance or operations-related field of position.
•The ability to obtain a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Have a valid Driver’s License.
