The Department of Emergency & Military Affairs (DEMA), led by The Adjutant General, provides emergency management and military capabilities to the citizens of Arizona and the nation. The Emergency Management Division consists of three sections—operations, preparedness, and financial administration. Each section works collaboratively across the agency and with external partners to manage emergency responses and reduce the impacts of disasters. Additionally, DEMA is the headquarters for the Arizona National Guard, the primary combat reserve of the United States military. The Arizona Army and Air National Guard provide military forces and equipment to accomplish community, state, and federal missions.

Job Summary:

As part of the Network Services Team in the G6, the Systems / Network Engineer is responsible for analyzing and resolving problems on the State WAN and LAN. Position performs advanced network administration and network reliability services, provides technical assistance to the Tier I and II teams and performs network configuration and architecture. Position installs and maintains network software, firmware, and patching IAW STIG guideline; monitors, configures, and tests LAN switches and routers; develops and writes network administration documentation and LAN logical and physical MAP and will install, configure and monitor network and server operating systems.

Job Duties:

• Tier II and III Network Administration: Establishes and maintains network performance. Builds net configurations and connections. Troubleshoots network problems. Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration and directing system installation. Defines, documents, and enforces system standards. Maximizes performance by troubleshooting network problems and outages and scheduling upgrades. Configure router and updates data servers and network equipment. Collaborates with all teams to monitor and optimize network performance. Updates and maintains status of work on all assigned projects. Secures network systems by establishing and enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access. Maintains and updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
• Tier II Network Systems Administration: Conduct daily analysis of all network services such as CISCO DNA, DNS services, Elastic, Security Onion, as well as other tools that support the network infrastructure and system health. Identifies and characterizes incidents, generates incident reports, and investigates suspicious activity regarding all network devices. Responsible for backup and validation of backups for all network devices. Identify and troubleshoot network outages (Hardware and Software), and work to resolve with all necessary parties required (Hardware and Software manufacturers). 20%
• Tier II Network Support: Internet Protocol (IP) address management. Domain Name Server (DNS) administration Understand dynamic multipoint VPNs. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Establish plans and goals for self and Analyst that meet the customer current or future projects needs. Monitor, create, edit and enforce all standard operating procedures, processes and timelines.

• Principles, techniques and operations of networks and network hardware at the intermediate level.
• Knowledge of system software, hardware and networking and how they all interconnect / work together.
• Knowledge of Network design and implementation LAN / WAN

Selective Preference(s):

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Prefer Associates or College Degree
Prefer Cisco Networking Certification
Required Security+ certification within 6 months of hire date

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid Arizona state issued driver's license. In-State travel required. Individual is required to pass a criminal background investigation. Candidates for this position will be required to submit to a criminal background investigation as well as possess the ability to achieve a favorable Tier 3 investigation for the purpose of obtaining/maintaining a Secret clearance eligibility and Common Access Card (CAC) within one year of hire. Must have a DoD 8570 IAT II compliant certificate (GSEC, SEC+. SSCP).
