The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of highly skilled technical work in survey, inspection of highway construction projects, field testing quality control tests on materials, verifying quantities, documentation of daily construction activities, contracts, employee interviews, and construction checklist. Complete administrative documentation and complex engineering reports, and training other ADOT personnel on assigned construction project. Will normally be assigned to more than one area of construction and can be subject to irregular work hours. Overtime may be required including working nights, weekends and holidays. Occasional overnight travel may be necessary. Position will be required to drive a state vehicle
Knowledge in:
*Knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering related to the construction state highway road systems.
*Knowledge of construction inspection methods, procedures, and techniques.
*Knowledge of construction materials testing procedures.
*Knowledge of standards, policies, and procedures applicable to the area of assignment.
*Knowledge of Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) traffic control for work zones.
*Knowledge of computer programs applicable to the functional work unit.
*Google platform knowledge
Skill in:

*Skills in analysis and preparation of materials field testing data.
*Skills in written and verbal communication.
*Skills in operation of equipment for completion of assigned duties.

Ability in:
*Ability to operate and maintain a variety of construction quality control equipment.
*Ability to read and interpret a variety of construction documents, including highway maps and plans.
*Ability to plan, coordinate, analyze, and perform multiple tasks and inspections.
*Ability to establish and maintain work relationships.
High School diploma or GED. two years experience in inspecting minor highway construction projects or hot mix and concrete plants or performing administrative or advanced engineering and construction records maintenance or related duties; or 90 semester hours applicable toward a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology; or closely related profession may be substituted for the required experience. ATTI and ACI Certification are preferred.
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
