This position provides administrative support at the direction of the Psychiatric Nurse Unit Manager and/or the Assistant Nurse Executive Officer.
Prepares memos, summaries, and reports
Making copies, keeps unit forms organized, current, and available
Records, transcribes, and distributes unit meeting minutes
Answers phone calls and refers to appropriate department and/or enters appropriate information (sick calls, pick up shifts, ect.) on appropriate tracking system
Help to maintain registry files and keep up to date for the staffing office.
Infotronics and ABS updates when staff call off or pick up an extra shift.
Communicate with other departments when staff call off or are not current on requirements.
Participates in the admitting process by notifying assigned treatment team members, communicating with the admissions office and obtaining the health record.
Organizes patient information related to outpatient appointments and assembles patient information for discharge packet.
Provides assistance to other units at the Hospital in the absence of their Nursing Unit Clerk.
Monitors unit compliance with regulatory agency and infection control standards
Keeps accurate and orderly files
Maintains policy and protocol manuals.
Obtains signatures for laboratory tests and maintains laboratory book on the unit
Other duties as assigned as related to the position (typically 5% - 10%)
Knowledge of:
-Composition of the health record.
-Policies and procedures related to patient
confidentiality.
-Laboratory requisitions/protocols.
-Patient clinic appointments.
-Performance Management (PM), and
Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and
Lean methodologies.
-Computer programs (excel, microsoft,
google)
-Infotronics
Skill in:
-Assertive communication.
-Gathering patient information for
appointments, discharge, etc.
-Organizing and ordering office supplies and
forms.
-Taking minutes for unit meetings.

Ability to:
-Address customers in a helpful and
courteous manner.
-Handle multiple requests, ability to multitask.

supervisory assistance and report them
promptly.

High School Diploma or GED, or similar credential is required and at least two years of administrative support experience. Preference will be given to candidates with administrative support experience in a hospital or correctional setting
