WIIN PROGRAM INTERN

POSTING DETAILS:
 
- The WIIN Program intern will join our team for 9-13 weeks, working 10-20 hours each week.
- Start date - As soon as you’re ready we can accommodate your class schedule so that you may work during business hours.
-You will need to upload a copy of your resume, transcripts and cover letter explaining how your skills are a good fit for this position, and must have a current GPA standing of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Compensation based on education and experience.

The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) is offering Arizona schools and child care facilities the opportunity to test for lead in their drinking water for free. This project is part of a nationwide program that was established by the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act of 2016. You would be a great fit if you have excelled or have an interest in health education/promotion, program implementation, health education, environmental health, and working with diverse community partners/organizations. 
 
As the WIIN intern, you will have the opportunity to
 
● Assist with identifying which schools to prioritize for lead testing based on need and through a health equity lens.
● Assist with the development of communication materials engage in outreach to schools to promote the program and foster community confidence. 
● Develop and collect metrics to track the number of schools participating in the program.
● Provide technical assistance to schools and childcare facilities.
● Collaborate with staff on new ideas and directions for the program.
● Updating resources and educational materials
● Assist team with developing a data management tool.
 
-You will be coached and mentored by the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Manager and the rest of the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Team by collaborating with them on group projects. 
YOU WILL BRING THE FOLLOWING TO THE INTERNSHIP: 
● Strong verbal and written communication skills.
● Knowledge of Google Workspace, including Google Sites, Forms, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive.
● Time management, organization, planning, and organizational skills.
● Customer service skills
YOU WILL GAIN THE FOLLOWING FROM THIS INTERNSHIP:
● Experience in Program planning and development
● Experience in health promotion and education or health equity
● In-person and virtual public health outreach and engagement strategies
● Collaboration with a diverse team of professionals.
SELECTIVE PREFERENCES:
  • Working towards a degree and a strong desire to develop beyond the classroom.
  • Experience in program management or coordination including volunteer/internship and campus-based experience.
  • Experience (including volunteer/internship), coursework, or interest in public health, children's health, or environmental health. 
Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.
